Germany here we come (again...)

Tjuhuuu,

We left Vaerloese on Monday morning and spent two days in the car driving intensively. We drove though Storebelts bridge and Jylland to arrive to Germany after some hours in the camper. In Germany we didnt drive though Hamburg but crossed the Elbe with a ferry from Glyckstadt, and that was fun! =) Then for the night we drove to Cuxhaven - quite a touristic little town next to big beaches in notrh. Next morning we hit the road again, and drove all the way to Amsterdam Zeeburg camping. What a hilarious place! All the buildings are pastel- and multicoloured with even a little zoo in the  campingsite. Goats and chickens, rooster and little chicklings. Cute all of them except we have our camping site next to it and we have this relatively intensive goatsmell just outside =)

Yesterday we spent the whole day in the Amsterdam city biking and walking around. Biking itself is super handy way to get around (as always) but here in Amsterdam if you dont drive fast enough, if you dont drive on the right bike lane, or if you do everything right then you might get overdriven.. Maniac! And nobody uses helmet either. Not even the kids, even if parents have loaded them on their bikes, but apparently the kids learn the biking strategy early =) But the city itself is cool and lot of fun. The best place ever to do the people studies and its really nice just walk around and look. I think it might be truly horrible place in the summer time when the city is packed with english tourists since even now we had quite some of them. But when you walk two block away from the shopping streets then its nice and quiet again.

For a dinner yesterday we went for a nice small local restaurant that we spotted from the outskirts of the city centre. On our next table was sitting an american couple that was traveling in Europe. They had been in Italy in Cinque Terre and recommended us to visit there, lets see ;o) Also we got their contact so if we ever end up going to Vermont then for sure we will go and visit them!

Unlike yesterday when we had a sunshiny and nice day in the city, today it seems to rain a lot, so we'd better continue our ride back to the German side. Still we dont know if we will meet Rene (Burnos friend) and if yes then we will be in Düsseldorf tomorrow. If not then we might make it to Marionskis place already today.. Lets see ;o)

But now we have to eat some breakfast, since this camping here is the first one with check-out time, and thats in one hour at twelve =)

Sorry still no pictures even from Denmark, but they definitely will come sooner or later =)

*kramkram* to all!

one more Unesco site

Have a look, one more of Unesco world heritage spots where we have visited. Looked like totally  boring place, but check the link. Its actually super interesting!
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Grimeton_VLF_transmitter

The info center in the place itself was closed since its off-season, but the boss of the radio center was there. He let us in to the building where the huge ancient radio transmitter was, and for one hour he told us stories about the last in the world and still running and totally MECHANICAL (non-electrical) radiotransmitter. Reeeeeeally cool!

This Grimeton place we saw on our way from Göteborg to Denmark. I think the best thing about it was that the man who told us about the whole machinery was so into it, transmitting his excitement and awe to us both. In the same afternoon they were having some international congress guests from Stockholm and they were supposed to turn the machine on. The man invited us to stay, but unfortunately we had to continue our way south and towards Helsingborg to catch the ferry to Denmark.

This is one of the six masts (which should be counted as one mast) which are 130m high, and the horizontal part at the top of the mast is 30m long. Quite biiiiig =)

The line of the masts. The line that these make is on 90degree angle facing exactly Long Island in New York where they had more than five of these transmitter complexes. Those one in New York were taken down in the 1960s

Hummm.... This is... Something related to radio transmitting in the old times =)
These are part of the more new transmitter built in 60s

The machine in the middle is the one which sends the actual signal to the masts
The tools that they still use for repairing and tuning the machine. The biggest one was maybe 1m tall and  must weigh ten kilos

The cloud spotting

Heihei,

Here we go with the clous spotting pics from Sweden on our way from Höga Kusten to south. They maybe dont look so nice as they were on the sky, but what to do? ;o)

And now we are by the way in Vaerloese in Denmark at Gimses and Hansis place. Yesterday we spent the day in Copenhagen with Moin and Valdemar - just walking around in all different city areas and barrios. Nice city actually :) Those pictures we will add a bit later here. And now since against all the odds the sun is shining we better go out and explore the suburds of Copenhagen by bike!

This view was waiting for us when we looked dewn from the power stations top to the river. Quite nice isnt it? :)

This is from  Lottefors kraftverk. Can you find a hiding camper?

Stories about Sweden

God afton allihopa, as they say in Sweden.

Now when Bruno is having his last sauna for quite some time, i have time to write you stories about Sweden. We have spent now total nine days in Sweden (Sun12th - Tue21st) and im quite surprised that it took us so short time to drive down the whole Sweden. I also realized that we spent most of our time in the north doing stuff there, and this mid- and southern part we have mainly been sitting in the can and driving. It maybe had something to do with the fact that some days it has been  raining so piss much that it has been useful only to drive. Butbut, what have we been doing then? Well...

After leaving Finland at the border of Pello we spent the first day here in Swede - driving. Or lets say that Bruno was driving while i red a book. That day was the first properly rainy one and we travelled to via Gällivare to the parking lot of Muddus National Park, close to... ....well Lapland =) The next day was again extremely nice and sunny and we did a 25km hiking in the park. Coosing the route was a bit optimistic since only 15km would have been already enough. But anyway we saw nice views, some forest birds, even two reindeers munch-munching food, and a truly nice canyons and waterfalls. Nice day!

The next day was a bit more grayish and we drove south through Jokkmokk to spend the night in Arvidsjaur camping. Cute small village (or town?) where we did our first visit in Swedish supermarket ICA. And can you belive, that they had there in the lappish smallish foodstore nicer stuff and better choise than in the whole bloody Prisma or CItymarket in Finland! Amazing...

The next day was rainy as hell and we drove the whole day down to Uumaja, to Ilkkas and Eijas place, where we arrived in the evening. It was truly nice to sleep in an apartment instead of our 6m2 portable apartment, and it was nice to be social to other people than just to eachother ;o) We spent two nights in Uumaja going to city by bikes in the daytime and grilling excellent lamb (from ICA) in the evening. And maybe nicest thing was that Ilkka fixed my poor old laptop since he suggested to try to install Ubuntu - and it worked! Thats the reason im now sitting (for the first time) nicely on the sofa of our camper, sipping nice port wine and writing you these few lines =) What a life, jeje...

From Uumaja we didnt start driving too early in the morning, so we didnt make it further than to Höga Kusten (the high coast). Its a Unesco world heritage area with really nice high cliffs coming straight from the sea, and with high hills and kind of looking like a mixture of Switzerland and Finish archipelago. Really nice. The next day though it was so piss raining that we didnt go for a hike but drove with a car a "sightseeing route" in the islands that was marked with white flowers. During that day we drove to Sundsvall where we went for a lunch in a nice eco-cafe, and for the night we went to Lottefors - close to Bollnäs. We never made it to the camping site since we saw a nice little water power station (Lottefors kraftverk) and we parked the camper next to it for the night. During this driving day i became true cloud spotter, since the storm clouds were amazing! We didnt get so many showers on us while driving, but the road went so high up in the mountains (or hills?) that we saw all the possible could types and weathers on one sky. I can load one day the best of those pics for you all to see =)

The following day it was again okayish weather and we drove down to Falun to see their Unesco world heritage spot. It was the koppargruva - an old copper mine from the 16th century. Quite impressive, unluckily we didnt have our camera with us during that day =( From Falun we drove another 170km down to FIlipstad camping - a really nice and cute camp site next to a lake. There they actually had an internet, and just when we had written down stories for you and even loaded few pictures, the connection died and -bufff- everything disappeared =/ Well, thats life.

And then yesterday we drove again in afternoon rain all the way to Göteborg and spent the night in parking lot in Kungälv - a small village 20km from Göteborg. We were supposed to go to camping site in the city but the girl behind the counter said with bright blue eyes that a night would have costed 370sek! Joojoo we said and went away. And in Kungälv there was supposed to be another camping but we would have had to have some camping card (!) to stay there. WE got pissed off and drove the car to the closest parking area. And just by luck when the general mood in our small home was about to get darkish, we decided to go for a small walk in the small city. And hahaaa we ran into a small cute italian restaurant where we wnt to eat and excellent pizza. Nice food and a half a bottle of wine always makes you feel happier, right? =)

And today we parked our car in a parking lot of a supermarket, we took the bikes and went biking to the Göteborg downtown. Again, really nice city. And so we are here, in a camping area 50km south from Göteborg, nice and clean after sauna, with reindeer meat sitting in the fridge waiting to be prepared as poronkäristys with mashed potatoes, yummy! And just now since MrB came from sauna, id better give the laptop to him and start preparing the dinner. Maybe nice porto is not enough, hihi =) Tomorrow we will head to Denmark side and meet the family

Billion *hugs* and *kisses* and *bisous* to all of you love ones <3

And the jacket that goes with it!

Joulupukki

Heippa,

Yesterday after the quick picture loading at the Rovaniemi turkisti info, we asked from the girl behind the counter that what is there to dod in Rovaniemi. She immediately pulled out a bruchure with reideer-, moose-, husky dog and so on safaris, prices ranging from 40€ to 75€... Huhhuhh... With insisting she told us that 20km from the city there is a Lapland Outside park, where were nice trails from 5km to 15km. We took one swamp trail and it was suuuuper lovely, we even saw some lovely rivers and rapids. But unfortunately here in library im not allowed to load any pictures (!) so no fotos for u yet.... So if u ever end up going to Rovaniemi dont belive the info girl but have some do-it-yourself hiking =)

We spent the night in the parking lot in the park, and then we went to see Joulupukki at the pole circle. Horrible SantaClaus Meets Capitalism -place, but anyhow we spent some time there and talked to Joulupukki a bit. We were not allowed to take any pictures in the santa room, but we should have bought a picture with 25€... Hummmm.....

Well, we just biked down to the city 9km downhill to see the city centre of Rovaniemi aswell. Looks nice so far. Sunshimy and all! We will have quite ride uphill tomorrow to reach our mobile home again, but it will do us good. The thing is that today we will spend the night in Rovaniemi Scandic hotel, thanks to the nice gift from Brunos workmates =)

I think tomorrow after visiting the Arctica museum we will head our way to Sweden side. If we finde some nice map or info about the Swedish Lapland we might spend a couple of days there aswell. And then drive down to Umeå to do our second friend-pit stop to see Eija and Ilkka. And do quite some laundry ;o)

Well, thats about that this time. Until next time, hasta la vista!

PS. If someone is having some old installation CDs of Windows then those would be a good thing for us to borrow.... Our computer problem is that we decided to re-install the windows in my old laptpo so that it would run a bit faster, and then have that one as our travel compu to use in internet cafes or so on. But one of the three CDs i had didn run, and now the whole laptop is as good as dead =( So if any of you who happen to be in our way would have the CDs that would be a big help. Otherweise we will by a small and cheap mini-lapotp and use that.... Well lets see, iiiiits oukei ;o)

*hugs*

Now the photos!

Heippa hei,

we are now in Rovaniemi, and now lets see if we manage to load some photos here from the previous few days. In the netticafe in Vaasa the lady didnt let me plug my camera in the USB :/ Butbut, now lets try! The first pic is from yesterday when we ended up in a small ditch in Pietarsaari camping... The camping owner came with a tractor and pulled us out =) 5min later i went to buy some smoked salmon and it was the same grandpa selling it! The second pic is from Vaasa archipelago where we camped on a small beach. Lovely sunset! And the last pic is from the IMMENSE fields of puolukka we saw in Lauhavuori park.

And thats about that, catcha later!

Here we go!

Moikka all,

Sorry that it took this long time to start writing this blog and to tell you about our pikku journey. But now we are in Vaasa sitting in a NeuleNettiKahvila and finally being able to write you some stories =)

So our gypsy life started on Tue31st of August after intensively packing and moving all our stuff into total 14 new homes! After doing all this we headed the nose of our mobile home (still without a name - any ideas?) to Rauma. We send two nice days and nights at Anttis, Kanervas and Otsos home. The best of Rauma (if friends are not included) was definitely the Lumo-shop from where we got the best luomu-hapankorppu ever, and also the exhibition in the museum whrere Antti is working. The random video stories of different people where abloutely  awsome =DDD

Since leaving from Rauma we have tested few camping sites - in Merikarvia camping, Kangasjärvi lomakylä and Åminne at least.. Some nicer than the others, but quite ookoo never the less. So far we have spent one day hiking in Lauhanvuori kansallispuisto and also yesterday we spent cayaking and hiking in Vaasa arhipelago, close to village Björköby. We have seen and eaten A LOT of berries (mustikka and puolukka) and mushrooms (mainly tatti), namnam.

Afret todays city day in Vaasa we will continue towards north, to Pietarsaari camping. Our battery got emptyish after spending three nights without electricity, so we have to get some charging this night. By the way dad, yesterday the LedItSee cap with light was truly helpful - otherwise we would have had to cook in candle light ;o) And if any of you happens to come to Vaasa in September go to the museum of modern art Kuntsi (or something..) since there is a really nice fotograph exhibition by Caj Bremer - Its really really great!

And by the way do you know that in Kristiinankaupunki there is a street called: "Kissanpiiskaajankuja" - "Kattpiskargränden" - "The alley of the one who whippes his cat"? And now if i know how to do it i will add here some photos from the previous days.

*hugs* and *kisses* to you all!
